On Nov 9, 2016, the day after Trump was elected, we started organizing. On that day, Trump Free Zone group on Facebook was started (now renamed Post-Trump Activists). That weekend, we joined Young Progressive Democrats of America, among 1,000 people to protest from the Honolulu Zoo to Fort DeRussy.

In January 2017, Indivisible Hawai‘i was started with many Windward members. On the Windward side, we met in people’s homes, coffee shops, Whole Foods outdoors, etc. We protested at the State Capitol for the January 21, 2017 Women’s March.

We attended Town Halls and visit offices of our members of Congress.

We began postcarding and phone banking for Democrats in special elections, and the midterm elections in 2018.

In 2019, we met weekly at a local store, with sometimes 20 members, to write postcards to get Democrats elected to the Virginia legislature in 2019.

In December 2019, Indivisible Windward had a formal organizing meeting at the Recreation Center meeting rooms and registered with Indivisible National.

Later in December, we had our first protest on the occasion of the 1st Trump impeachment at the intersection of Kalanianaole Hwy and Kailua Rd near Castle Adventist Hospital with 100 participants which included some visiting members of Indivisible National.

We continued to meet at Down To Earth to postcard to swing states until the COVID pandemic hit in 2020, and then continued individually from home.

A group of us took up text banking for Democrats in swing states. In 2020, we began regularly texting with Pennsylvania Dems, Arizona Dems, Wisconsin Dems, as well as S and N Carolina, Iowa, Texas and outside organizations like Field Team 6.

In 2022, we trained more Hawai‘i residents to text bank and integrated ourselves into the swing state party text banks. With the help of PA Dems we held an exclusive training session.

Postcarding also continued with people individually, and also meeting at the beach park.

In 2023, we did more texting for special elections like the Wisconsin state supreme court election and referendum to make abortion access a state constitutional right in Ohio.

We continue to volunteer with National Popular Vote Interstate Compact to get that law passed in more states and make the president elected by popular vote within the framework of the Electoral College. It has passed in Hawaii and other states totaling 209 Electors with a goal of 270. Activities include text banking and phone calling to likely supporters to push their legislators. Minnesota passed it in 2023.

For 2025, we have our sights set on important state races in Wisconsin, Virginia and New Jersey which not only set the tone for 2026 but will impact the drawing of voting district lines and thus play a part in whether Dems have a fair shot at taking back the US House.

In 2026, we plan to message to voters in key Electoral College states and the major US Senate races and House races to retake majorities.

We are raring to go in 2025-6!!!
